MBF Music Education Awards

The MBF Music Education Awards are the MBF's largest source of funding for postgraduate musicians. They are offered to outstandingly talented instrumentalists and singers to help with full-time postgraduate study costs (fees or maintenance) or towards the cost of buying a musical instrument.

The awards incorporate a number of named scholarships and individual awards are usually between £1,000 and £5,000.

The next closing date will be during February 2009.

Peter Whittingham Jazz Award

An award of £4,000 is available for an innovative jazz project. This project may be in recording, composition or performance and must be in the field of cutting edge jazz. You may apply for projects to be undertaken independently or with others and must be under the age of 26 on the closing date. The next closing date will be in October 2008 and the application process will open during the summer.

MBF Songwriting Awards

An award of £5,000 is available to a talented songwriter for a project in recording, composition or performance. You must be studying on a popular or commercial music degree course in the UK, nominated by your Head of Course and under the age of 26 on the closing date. Songwriters will be shortlisted to perform at a public showcase final. The next closing date for nominations will be during autumn 2008.

The live showcase final for the awards takes place every November in London, in front of a panel of music industry judges.
